Aparently, just when you thought drinking more water was good for you.....here comes alarming news about low-dose, long-term exposure to hormones, antibiotics, psychotropic drugs and a host of other pharmaceutical residue in drinking water sources in our area and across the nation. Here is an article by Dr. Lynn Toohey, whom I have known for many years and who's work I greatly respect. I learned a long time ago that it is wise to pay attention to what Dr. Toohey has to say. She says it well: "The phrase "relative risk" came up. I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to risk my health relative to anything, and I certainly don't want someone else's prescription drugs in my body. I suggest utilizing a good filter for drinking water that is competent enough to remove small particles. Reverse osmosis will work, but Brita filters, and others that just remove basics like chlorine, will not work."
Reducing our exposure to such toxins can go along way to improving our health. Just because "utilities insist their water is safe" doesn't make it so. Those of my age group will recall when cigarette manufacturers used to say the same thing about their products!
